Mkomazi alien fuel
Mkomazi Alien Fuel takes biomass waste such as sawdust, knots and bark, left behind in the cellulose manufacturing process. They bind this waste into high calorific value wood pellets that can be used to replace fossil fuels (paraffin, diesel, coal) in industrial boilers and burners in the production of electricity, steam and heat. Sappi provides the raw material from alien trees.
ACWA power redstone
A 100MW concentrated solar renewable energy project in the Northern Cape. This energy powers a steam turbine to generate electricity for up to 200,000 homes, even during peak hours and at night. The project is not only a technological breakthrough but also a catalyst for local job creation and skills development, with a focus on empowering communities.
