I have a passion for finding solutions that drives everything I do; whether it’s in the form of a strategy, product, design or even a broader conceptual idea. An important part of being able to do this is to first understand the truth of things, which requires a wide framework of reference and an open-minded approach. Herein lies one of my key strengths: the ability to take into account a diverse set of inputs and research insights in order to deliver key outputs.

My current role helps me live out this passion by working in the investment industry and being able to help my clients achieve as well as better understand their own goals. I think finance has a fundamental role to play in the economy and by extension, society.

My goal is to help our clients build better portfolios, grounded on statistical principles with visually appealing representations. I am passionate about leveraging data for a framework that allows consistent analysis, and thereby demystifying investment strategies.

In today’s fast-paced world, connecting with real people with common values and common goals is important to me. People, teamwork and family are everything, and I live by the values of integrity, honour and honesty.

While I love staying on top of what’s happening in the markets globally, it’s important to have personal goals in life, along with perseverance in achieving them. Never let mistakes set you back; life is about making mistakes, learning from them and endeavouring not to repeat them.

My single biggest enemy in life? Chasing time! There’s no clawing it back; use it wisely. And when I need to relax and disconnect, a good movie does the trick.

I research and explain economic events and how they fit into unfolding big-picture trends, with a specific focus on variables relevant to fund management.

I do not believe we can predict the future and rather focus on identifying imbalances or pressure points where economic variables have drifted from their fundamental levels. My departure point in research is to guard against my own bias and I strive to never stop reading, since knowledge of the discipline of economics is never complete.

I want to help people retire with dignity, by investing their savings for long-term income and capital growth. By investing in fixed income I help my clients preserve capital and diversify their assets, reducing their exposure to risk.

Fixed income is the second largest asset class in the world, after residential property, but despite this it is not well understood. I relish all opportunities to engage with clients to demystify fixed income, sharing the latest innovations and trends in this field.

I am passionate about the alternative investment opportunities across Africa. I work with investors to direct their capital to where it can have a meaningful and sustainable long-term impact, while improving the risk-return profile of their portfolios.

Alternative strategies are more likely to meet their objectives when supported by access to local knowledge, networks and proprietary deal flow; I believe it is essential for an alternative investment strategy to be executed through highly experienced teams with deep specialist expertise, operating with the highest standards of corporate governance and quality of risk management processes.

I believe that the growing inequality, poverty, climate change and many other social and environmental issues provide an opportunity for private capital to close the financing gap, in moving the global community towards achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs), and at a national level the NDPs. As an ESG and Impact investing Practitioner, I monitor and advise on responsible investing in all its forms across the business.

I have a Masters in Commerce (Development Finance) from UCT’s Graduate School of Business, a BCom Honours (Financial Analysis and Portfolio Management) as well as a BSc in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics from UCT.

What drives me is my absolute and sheer fascination with the dynamic world of investments and for drawing on my multi-asset skill set to construct and build real investment solutions to address real financial challenges for every-day people.

I believe consumer education is critical and my goal is to help equip non-investment people to better navigate the sometimes murky world of investments in an informed way that is simple, enabling and easy-to-understand.

The investments universe is about more than just returns, and I am a believer in people, patience and consistency. I hope that we will always live in times of opportunities; where investors are rewarded for their patience, economies thrive on improved infrastructure, and growing companies can access capital empowerment.
